Serveral years ago when I first started dressing more 1940s and less 1950s, I came across this show. I never was able to see it in whole due to it being taken off air rather early. After that I tried to find a link for it serveral more times from someone who might have seen it on the Fodora Lounge. Eventually I had given up in trying to find it...until now. I had decided to give it one more go on Youtube and it was there. Yay! Finally!
So, I hope you all enjoy the first part of the show and let me know what you think!

I never realized this was a TV show, I read an article written about the three women about two years ago... frankly the way they talked about their lifestyle was pretty frightening to a vintage-wearing yet career-oriented woman like me. What are your thoughts?
ReplyDeleteI do not mind that a lot of them have old fashion/traditional feelings at all, but I felt like a couple of those women might have some more serious issues with anxiety (or something) than simply "enjoying" simpler times. I haven't watched these for a while, but I remember being really sad for a couple of them, and hoping that they would get help. I hope this doesn't sound judgmental, because that's not where I'm coming from at all
ReplyDeleteI can completely understand where you're coming from Betty2Tone, I felt the same way with some of the women. It's great to enjoy the style, the decor, even the role of women from that era if that's what makes you and your partner happy..but when you feel anxiety over going outside and wish you could remove yourself completely from the world, I do believe it speaks to something more complex. I studied psychology and this just sticks out a bit to me. I would understand someone saying that due to so much violence, war, mischief, etc they'd prefer to stay away from the outside world..but because it's not vintage sounds a bit absurd IMHO..enjoy the lifestyle and don't sweat the small stuff is my motto :)
