Day 1

Day 1 of my trip was exhausting after the 6 hours of driving we did from Scottsdale to San Diego, but the hotel was beautiful. We stayed at the Ocean Beach Hotel on the second floor in a small room. Our room over looked a lovely courtyard with lots of plants and the tables even had dog bowels in them incase your doggie was traveling with you.

The owner even had his very own vintage woodie that I decided to take a picture with once we arrived. Yes, that's a smoothie in my hand. hehe But we were tired so my boyfriend Kevin and I went upstairs, unpacked our stuff, and headed to the beach.

It soon started to get pretty late and we were starting to get hungry. Plus I reminded my boyfriend that he still owed me crab legs due to a bet I won. So we decided we would try the resturant next to our hotel since they had crab legs on their menu. I was really excited. So we went back to the hotel and changed.

I put on my 50s pink tiki dress and we walked over to Nick's.

The view from our table at Nick's was wonderful. The owners of the place really lucked out when they bought that place because the view was amazing, the food was delious, I couldn't have been happier. After dinner, we still wanted some more beach time so off to the pier we went.

San Diego Vacation



I'm really excited to announce that I will be leaving for my first vacation in 3 years this thursday. And not only is it my first vacation in 3 years, but this will also be the first time I've been to California. So, as you can see I'm very excited :)

With this trip, I plan on doing a day by day outfit post and a little background of the happenings on my vacation. So, I warn you all....there will be lots of pictures.

The problem with Vintage Furniture

Maybe I'm just the exception but I've been having one hell of a time with vintage furniture. I'm sure most of you that choose to wear vintage clothing also choose to have vintage furniture in your place. Well, having been wearing vintage clothing for 12 years, I am also one of those people that would love to have nothing but vintage furniture in my apartment.

 I recently decided to go with a mid century modern look for my place. It is not my personal favorite but it seemed to be the most available style here in Arizona. But by chance or luck as I thought, I ran across a gorgeous mid century pink sectional sofa for sale on Esty. I contacted the seller and we agreed that I would make payments until it was paid off and then said seller would ship the sofa to me. This seller had great feedback and seemed like an honest enough person. Well, after a considerable run around with seller for almost 2 months, I finally went to my bank and had my money refunded to me since seller obviously had no intention on shipping the sofa.

So, having learned my lesson from buying anything bigger then clothing on Esty, I moved on to trying to find something at a local antique/vintage furniture store instead. My friend Rachel and I got together today and went hunting. Finally after hours of searching, we came across a great shop with a few things I was interested in. I left with an Art Deco end table and hopes to go back for the Art Deco burgundy sofa in a couple of days.

When I got home and started to clean off the end table I noticed a cluster of webs on the bottom which look like spiders. By now I'm pissed and have no idea what to do. So, I sat the end table on my balcony so no one would steal it and if they are spiders that wouldn't be in my house. The table was only $30 and I hate to throw it out but I'm also not sure what to do. I also am afraid to go back and buy the sofa in fear that these spider things will also be on the sofa.

Has anyone else been in this situation? Or what do you do when you buy new vintage furniture? Is there a routine/ cleaning process you do?

Wonderful Inspiration

Today it reached 112 degrees here in Scottsdale, Arizona. This has come to be a usual thing for me to experience now that I've lived here for over a year now. Unfortunately my vintage style still consists of things one would wear over the winter months, considering I used to live in Pennsylvania. So I tend to look to other vintage loving girls for inspiration on items to wear over the summer.

With that search, I ran across this lady that has a wonderful vintage style. I can also relate to the "kid on Christmas morning" feeling during treasure hunting at local flea markets and vintage shops.

New Purchases/ Outfit Post

Hi everyone,

If you've been following me on Twitter then you know that I moved into the condo I have been wanting for awhile and finally moved in this month. It's really great and has a retro feel but enough on that for now. With the move I haven't had a chance to go shopping very much, if at all. But yesterday, on my day off, I went into Old Town Scottsdale to my favorite vintage shop to see what they had. I ended up walking away with these 2 beauties and decided to wear the one today since it was 96 degrees out.
